Peshawar – On Wednesday, an elderly man, who belongs to the Ahmaddiya community has been killed during the hearing of a blasphemy case against him at Peshawar Judicial Complex – Police
According to the reports, a case was registered against the deceased Tahir Ahmad Naseem 47, under the blasphemy laws. The accused was escorted into the court from Peshawar Central Jail, where he got shot dead by a young man identified as Khalid Khan. Tahir Naseem Ahmad was a member of the Ahmadiyya Community.
A lawyer who was presented at the court reported that during the court proceeding, Khalid,24, approached to the deceased, and after a heated argument shot him dead in front of the judge Shaukat Ali.
Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mohammad Ali Gandapur said that the shooter was arrested at the “spot”.
According to the FIR, the deceased was an Ahmadi and claimed to be the “fourteenth Mujaddid”. The complainant alleged in the FIR, that the deceased “befriended him on Facebook” and called him to have a meeting at a mall where he started discussing his beliefs. The FIR launched against the deceased back in 2018 and he was under custody for 2 years.
Tahir Naseem Ahmad was convicted under Section 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups), Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious belief), Section 295-B (defiling, etc. Of the Holy Quran), Section 295-C (use of derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H), and Section 298 (uttering words, etc. with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings) under Pakistan Penal Court.
This unfortunate incident happened inside the premises of the Peshawar Judicial Complex which is situated in the high-security zone on the main Khyber road in cantonment area where the Peshawar High Court, chief minister’s secretariat and Governor House are also located. It is yet to be found that how assailant managed to carry out this act inside this high-security zone.
