One of the most prestigious events in Turkey, the Albaraka Turk International Calligraphy Competition, recognises the work of the best calligraphers from around the world. This year, for the first time the organizers of the competition have honored a Pakistani, Muhammad Ali Zahid, with the top position in the Indo-Pak subcontinent.

He won the competition because of his attention to detail and in-depth knowledge of calligraphy.

The official handout issued by Albaraka Turk said that the calligraphy has helped a great deal in the promotion of Quranic verses and it has been written in various scripts since time immemorial.

“We should be proud of the talent we have and should encourage such individuals to step forward to make a name for themselves and their country,” the handout further said.
