Just in: Few minutes earlier, it was reported that couple of US drones collided and fell down in Idlib, a city in Syria near Turkish border.
Images of burning aircraft crashing to the ground were posted on twitter Tuesday. There was speculation that the aircraft were MQ-9 Reapers — a remotely piloted aircraft used predominately an armed hunter-killer drone but also capable of surveillance and intelligence collection — and were shot down.
Some journalists even reported that the Turkish Air Force shot down three drones, two from the United States and one from the Russians (both nations actively operating in the region).
However, the defense official could not confirm the type of drone involved. But If the reports of the Turkish shooting down Russian and US drones are true then it would be a new precedent being set where world powers like Russia and USA getting hit by Turkey at the same time.
