Porn viewership in Pakistan is increasing at an astronomical rate and there are multiple reasons behind it. From adult adds to WhatsApp groups, it’s just getting out of hands. Porn addiction is harming physical and mental health.

Pornography in Pakistan is illegal and is subject to several legal provisions. The Government of Pakistan has put a 100% ban on internet website containing such material since November 2011. The list of banned pornographic websites is updated on an ongoing basis.

Until September 2011, Internet pornography was accessible and pornography was widely accessed by the people with no policy towards censorship. Many young boys and girls would travel to Internet cafes to pay for and watch pornography.[1] However, in November 2011, the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority’s (PTA) decided to start blocking pornographic websites.[2]

In September 2011, a hacker claiming to be from Pakistan defaced the official website of the Supreme Court of Pakistan as a means to raise attention and call on the Chief Justice to permanently ban and block access to pornographic content on the Internet in the country. In October 2011, the website of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) was also defaced by the same hacker, with similar demands where the hacker demanded a blanket ban on all websites containing explicit material.

In November 2011, the PTA announced that it was in the process of banning the 1,000 most-frequented pornographic websites in Pakistan. The measure was taken to curb pornography. A report in 2012 said that, with many porn websites banned in the country, a few people were turning to purchase pornographic DVDs in places such as Karachi’s Rainbow Centre, which has long been the largest hub of video piracy and CD distribution in Pakistan.

Although to the popular belief, Pakistan is not even among 20 top porn viewing countries, a lie that some spread without inquiry or verification.

But that is because Pakistan doesn’t have that number of people who have direct access to the Internet and devices as compared to countries who too the list. Alarming thing is that porn viewership among females is 12% higher than males in Pakistan.

Adult adds and explicit content on the internet is a huge industry. The estimated worth of the porn industry is around 98 billion $ while the gaming industry stands at a mere 78 billion $ as of 2017. Top porn sites like pornhub outnumber sites like e-bay and Netflix in views.

But it seems like the adult Industry is systematically and deliberately promoted over the internet. The ratio of total ads on websites shows that adult advertisements outnumber finance, beauty, gaming and business-related ads. And these ads get billions of clicks every day.

ome chilling facts about porn industry are:
•64% boys n girls aged 13-14 seek out porn every week.
•Teenage girls browse more adult content than women aged 25 or above.
•A UK survey found 44% of male porn addicts commit domestic abuse.
•Teen pornography is most viewed.

At least 30% of the data circulating on the internet are porn-related. There are 624000+ online child porn traders discovered in the USA alone. Pakistan had the largest network of child porn traders, a gang of 24 ppl, who recorded 400+ videos of 280+ kids in Kasur city in 2014.

These porn traders sold porn videos over dark n surface web to porn sites and private customers both in and out of the country.
Big problem is that teenagers are reaching puberty at a younger age than the usual cause of porn addiction.

Not only that, but porn addiction is also causing serious cultural issues as incest porn via median internet is gaining more and more viewership. Pornhub, a famous porn site has been sued multiple times after kidnapped kid’s rape videos were found circulating the site.

Every year over 1.2 million children go missing across the globe. Where do they go? In Pakistan as of I know, these childrn are being kidnapped by terrorist organisations and are supplied to the houses of rich elites, judges and politicians in Islamabad as ISI report said in 2014
