In the 70s Bradford to Rawalpindi bus ticket was £75

There was a time when you could easily travel on a bus service from Bradford to Rawalpindi in the 1970s for just £75.

The bus service was called ‘Shaheen Express’ that introduced a holiday package to Pakistan in which a passenger would travel on a 12 day journey from UK to Rawalpindi. Around 40 passengers travelled in one bus with their families and luggage.

A video documentary of the splendid nostalgic journey is making social media rounds giving details of how the bus drivers made preparations for the long journey.

As per the Getty image documentary, passengers received tents for sleeping at night and tinned food which included chicken curry, meatballs and mincemeat and the bus would have a qualified mechanic, and some folk Pakistani music along the way.
