Upcoming James Bond Movie Delayed Due To Coronavirus

468 0

The movie was due to be released next month but now its release has been rescheduled to 12 November in the UK and 25 November in the US, with further worldwide release dates still to be announced.

The 25th Bond film was due to premiere in London on 31 March, but insiders told The Hollywood Reporter that Eon Productions’ Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson pushed for the release to be rescheduled.

Publicity tours for the movie in China, South Korea and Japan were cancelled as the virus spread and earlier this week, MGM, Universal and Eon received an open letter from the biggest Bond fan blog, MI6-HQ, calling on the companies to delay the launch and ‘put public health above marketing release schedules’.

The letter also argued that delaying the release would aid the film’s performance at the box office.

It read: “It’s just a movie. The health and well-being of fans around the world, and their families, is more important. We have all waited over four years for this film. Another few months will not damage the quality of the film and only help the box office for Daniel Craig’s final hurrah.”

As well as being Craig’s last portrayal of 007, the film will also see Rami Malek in the role of villain Safin. Other additions to the long-running franchise include Knives Out star Ana de Armas and Captain Marvel’s Lashana Lynch.

We’ll also be seeing some familiar characters alongside Bond, such as Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q, Léa Seydoux as Madeleine Swann, Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter and Christoph Waltz as Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
